Superconferences, mega-mergers, & football, oh my!
The world of college sports is changing. Fast. In case you haven't turned on ESPN in the last 3 days, Nebraska, Colorado, and Boise State have all jumped ship. A month ago it looked like the Big East was history, now it appears the Big 12 could be the one meeting its demise. But this is only the beginning.
The real bombs are poised to fall on the college sports landscape early next week. Texas is expected to announce its intentions to join the now Pac-10 on Tuesday. Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State will likely follow Texas' lead. That would bring the Pac-10 to 15 teams and the Big 12 down to 6. The remains of the Big 12 would likely be poached by other conferences like the SEC, Big 10, or even the growing Mountain West conference.
Assuming Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and OSU to the Pac-10 are a given, the question becomes who makes the next move? Will the SEC poach the ACC or will it be content to grab Texas A&M and possibly Baylor? Could the Mountain West earn BCS status by adding Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri? Its anybody's guess right now, so here is how I would like to see things play out:

On a side note, I’ve added the Boise State Beatdown Countdown to the sidebar. ESPN seems to think BSU has already won. I don’t. Yea, so they beat Oklahoma a few years ago. Other than that, they’re 4-4 against BCS teams since 2005, including a 48-13 drubbing by Georgia. Lets Go Hokies.
