ESPN College Gameday is coming to Blacksburg…in February!

     Yes, you heard me right.  College Gameday is coming to Blacksburg again.  But this time you won’t be seeing Chris Fowler and Lee Corso…the ESPN gang is coming to Cassell for the February 26th showdown between the Hokies and the Duke Blue Devils.  It’s going to be an exciting Saturday in Blacksburg as the ESPN cameras will be set up early for the Hokies’ 9 pm showdown with Duke.  Here is an excerpt from the ESPN news release:

Feb. 26: Duke at Virginia Tech, 9 p.m. ET: Seeing Virginia Tech on the "GameDay" schedule is a bit of a surprise. But this could be a gem: Few teams have the ability to pump up an away fan base quite like Duke, and the Hokies will have to take every opportunity they can to make sure they don't just miss the tournament for the third straight year.

     This is a big step for the program and shows just how far Seth Greenberg has taken Virginia Tech hoops.  Just a few years ago the Hokies weren’t anywhere close to garnering this kind of respect in the basketball world.  As Seth tweeted soon after the news broke, our players and fans must work hard to make the most of this opportunity.

     This is the first appearance for Virginia Tech on the basketball version of the popular weekly "College Gameday" series that ESPN runs during football and basketball season. The first hour of the show will be broadcast nationally beginning at 10 am on ESPNU, after which the show moves to ESPN for an additional hour. The show continues at 8 pm, an hour before tip-off. The Gameday crew was last at Virginia Tech in September of 2007 for the Hokies game with East Carolina.
