The Hokies absolutely steamrolled a fatigued Mississippi State squad Saturday evening in Paradise Island, Bahamas, scoring 44 in each half while holding the Bulldogs to a season low 57 points. The Bulldogs couldn't handle Tech's balanced scoring attack, led by Malcolm Delaney, who scored 19 points in 35 minutes of action.
I don’t know who to be most impressed with in this game:
- Jeff Allen with a double-double in only 16 minutes of play
- Dorenzo Hudson scoring 17 points while nursing 3-4 injuries
- Erick Green with 11 points, 3 steals, 6 assists and no turnovers
Take your pick for player of the game, it was a team effort. The Hokies knew Mississippi State would be tired after playing 4 games in 4 days this week and they took advantage, pushing the tempo and outhustling the Bulldogs all night. Say what you will about Mississippi State now, but come March, this will be a team near the top of the SEC. It’s a win the Hokies needed, and one they can build off of as ACC play approaches.
