Seth Greenberg should wrap Jeff Allen, Victor Davila, and Cadarian Raines in bubble wrap from head to toe until November 12th. Seriously…enough is enough for this program. Redshirt sophomore transfer Allan Chaney was already out indefinitely with heart-related condition, and now senior JT Thompson’s year is over with a torn ACL. You really have to feel for both Allan and JT. There is still hope that Allan could play this season, but in all seriousness, his long term health has to remain the number one priority. JT has dealt with injury throughout his Virginia Tech career, but none has to be more frustrating than this, before the most promising season of his career so far. He’s got a great group of teammates around him and I have full confidence he’ll rebound from this too.

What was a five-man rotation in the Hokies frontcourt is now down to three. Realize that we still have 3 very talented post players. Victor Davila is due for a breakout season (think Dorenzo Hudson last year). We know he can score, and the defense has to click for him eventually. Cadarian Raines fits the bill to be the physical presence in the middle that the Hokies long for. All hope is not lost for a very successful season, but the margin for error has narrowed greatly. Long wings Terrell Bell and Jarell Eddie could slide into the post if necessary, but that’s a far from ideal situation. But would it really be Virginia Tech Basketball if anything was handed to us on a silver platter? It’s a tougher row to hoe, a bigger chip on the Hokies’ shoulder, and if anyone knows what to do with one of those, it’s Seth Greenberg.

Here's to hoping the Hokies can overcome this latest obstacle. One additional note: Erik Sorenson, a 6’3” 175 lb guard from Dallas, Texas has been added to the roster according to hokiesports.com. Virginia Tech Basketball is 57 days away!
